The MLS encompasses seven parishes in its Z/Y list including: Caddo, Bossier, Bienville, Claiborne, DeSoto, Red River and Webster. The list also provides for eight counties in East Texas: Cass, Marion, Harrison, Gregg, Rusk, Panola, Shelby and Nacogdoches. Arkansas is also included in the list.

The Z Areas or Zones are generally considered a part of town with defined boundary or a parish. The Y Areas are subdivisions or areas located within the Z Area.
